There are always two sides to every story…

(Jackie) …so get the right one. Devon and I met in April 2022 (whoop!), while I worked at Dutch Bros, and Devon was a personal trainer at the gym across the parking lot… As most of you know, I maintained a very healthy lifestyle in college and conveniently worked out at the same gym. One day, during a workout, my gym buddy (shout out Molly) asked me what my type was, and I simply pointed at Devon. A few months went by, and my friends and I were celebrating our senior year coming to an end at the one and only Chilifest. Observing the crowd on a slightly elevated surface, I spotted a familiar face, Devon. With some slight nerves (and a million butterflies), I called out his name. (Some would say cat-calling, but I digress; it worked.) He totally recognized me, and the rest of the weekend we talked, danced, laughed, and just never really stopped... I may or may not have played hard to get in the beginning, but given that on two separate occasions we both accidentally said I love you to each other... It wasn’t long after that that we confessed it again and meant it. I knew from that moment on that he was the one I was going to marry.

Now this is the part most people would say "fast forward a few years later," but Devon and I decided to switch that up a bit. When I met Devon, he had already accepted a job in Jacksonville, FL, and a few weeks later, he proposed the idea of moving with him. I thought he was crazy (spoiler alert, we both are), but I took a chance and said yes. By July 2022, Devon, Koda, and I were all moved into our first apartment, ready to face the real world together. Over the next few years, our love for each other, and for Florida grew tremendously, from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach and BACK to Jacksonville. Bittersweetly, our Florida Era came to an end in July 2025 when we moved back to Texas, settling in Dallas. A few months later, in November 2025, Devon proposed another idea to me, but this one was not so crazy…

If you are here and reading this, know I love you SOOO much, and I am beyond excited to celebrate another fun milestone in our epic love story together. Mexico here we COME!!!!

(Devon) …And now the way I remember it, the I guess not so correct one? Nonetheless, I learned far before marriage that she is always right. A phenomenal start to a fantastic story of us. I first came across Jackie at the gym I worked at in College Station, our final semester at A&M. I had seen her around occasionally, but never sparked up a conversation. Until one day, we met briefly through a mutual friend at the gym. I ran into her a time or two out in public after that, making small talk I would have loved to last all day, but it did not progress any further than that.

Yet again, unknowingly, a few weeks later we both end up at our annual Chilifest. Somehow, in this massive complex of music and an incredible amount of beer, my roommate taps my shoulder to tell me there's this girl above us calling my name. I look up and there is Jackie… calling MY name? We agreed to find each other later in the day, and after we did, we refused to be separated. However, this time I actually had the sense to ask for her number, only for her to tell me “if you really want it, you’ll find a way to get it”. Very lucky for me, that mutual friend was ready to sell her data, and I quickly reached out to find any and every moment I could to see her. Soon enough, we would burn down the bars together, watch movies, eat at our favorite spots, play with Koda, or hop on Mario Kart for hours. Naturally, I did not want to spend any waking moment away from her, and so I confessed my love. I am filled with joy every day that Jackie repeated those words back to me. After some thought and a lot of support from the people we love most, Jackie and I moved to Florida together, and there has never been a day I don't wish it was her by my side. I suppose this is where I say "the rest is history". If you don't know the rest of the story, I'm not too sure how you made it in. We love you guys and are so excited to share this moment with everyone!
